AIRCRAFT FERRY TANKS
HELI 21 GAL. HELI 21 fits most light helicopters including Bell 206 - MD 500 - R44 etc. The tank can be set up on its edge in MD 500, fuel will self drain into main tank. In R44 a transfer pump will be needed to lift fuel to Auxiliary tank. If tank is to be used as Ferry Tank for in-flight refuelling. Consult your Maintenance Authority for advice on approved scheme installation details. Empty HELI 21 folds up compact. A tough tank that will last many years as a range extender or remote area operations add on tank.
CUSHION 37. Designed specifically to suit nose lockers of larger twins as Seneca – Baron –Duke – Cessna 404 etc. Most times used with large FERRY TANK in the main cabin to correct weight & balance. (NOT well suited across main cabin of light aircraft. Refer to HELI 21 or DRUM 66.) NORMAL loading and Unusable Fuel requirements apply unless otherwise approved.
AISLE DRUM 105 Gal. Designed for aisle fit in cabin class aircraft, bottom outlet will work with cabin pressure without transfer pump in most installations. Construction - Extra grade fabric used most times best suited for Jet A. Unique angled tie downs secure tank to fwd 9G plus force safely. Weight & Balance is easily met with various loading configurations - Passenger seats can stay in cabin - Pack up compact empty. The most convenient ferry tank in existence ! NORMAL loading and Unusable Fuel requirements apply unless otherwise approved.
FERRY 100 Gal. Made originally for Cessna 172 Atlantic crossing ferry flights but fits virtually all 4 to 6 place aircraft cabins, wedges in securely. Shape and dimensions make it an easy task to do Weight & Balance. Also suited to helicopter ferry flights bottom outlet gravity drain to belly tanks and two top tie downs with side ties restrains up to 25g force. Tough multi task ferry tank.
FERRY 160 238 300 400 500 529. Turtle-Pac Ferry Tanks allow flying the shortest route to your destination avoiding the extra miles and cost caused by diverting for refuelling stops, and allow for the use of remote alternate landing sites. A Ferry Tank is usually fitted in the space created by the removal of the passenger seats. NO support box is required. Tank's soft structure will not damage the plane's interior as metal tanks and their associated fitting process often do. Save considerable time and cost by the fast & easy fitting of Turtle-Pac tanks. Safety is improved over metal tanks, as tank's fabric collapses with the fuel level. No air space means no condensation, no water to contaminate fuel, and no vapour space; vastly reducing the chances of engine failure, or explosion even in the case of fire. Folded up tanks take little space and can be carried as luggage on commercial flights. Turtle-Pac tanks are legal to use as Ferry Tanks in most countries including Australia, U.S.A. and Canada. Aircraft can operate under Ferry Flight permit with pilot & navigator only. Most transpacific ferry flights from U.S. to Australia use Turtle-Pac Ferry Tanks since the early 1990s, from Cessna 172 to Saab 340. Boeing 727 cargo planes also rely on our tanks to extend their range. SO CAN YOU!
PACIFIC OCEAN FERRY CROSSING

TURTLE-PAC IS TRUSTED BECAUSE...

Turtle-Pac pioneered in the mid 1980s, the unique skill and technology used today. We haven't stopped pioneering since, an ongoing R&D program ensures our leading edge is maintained. Every aspect of manufacture is geared towards exceptional reliability. New product samples are destruction tested and trialled in the field in the most arduous conditions before release into the market. The knowledge gained is applied throughout our production, to your benefit. Every aircraft tank is pressure tested, and seams are foam tested and inspected. Only after all tests and inspections are passed satisfactorily, is the Tank issued a Quality Assurance and Acceptance Certificate.
TURTLE-PAC'S FABRICS - STANDARD GRADE fabrics are soft fabrics, easy to fold, compact and lightweight. Suitable for Avgas, and chosen by some users for Kerosene (jet fuel) as well, due to it's user-friendly characteristics up to 529 gallons. However, STANDARD GRADE is not recommended for kerosene.
EXTRA GRADE fabrics are heavy duty. Suitable for Avgas and Kerosene (jet fuel). Recommended to users of jet fuel and others operating in harsh environments. Compared to Standard Grade: Not as soft and user friendly and will take up about 50% more space folded and about 40% heavier.
CONSTRUCTION - Electro Fuse Welding, using precision dies, electronically fuses all seams. The seam's strength equals the fabric strength, and is maintenance free. No glue or chemical bonding is used, as those techniques are prone to leaks.

TANKS PRESSURE RESISTANCE - Standard Grade fabric tanks are tested to 5 psi during quality control tests. (Aluminium ferry tanks only tested to 3.5 psi). Standard Grade fabric Turtle-Pac Ferry Tanks will exceed the pressure resistance of aluminium ferry tanks typically by 300%.
CRASH RESISTANCE - Turtle-Pac tanks are a collapsible structure and do not require ventilation; no vapours are contained in the tank to cause an explosion during crash or fire. Being a soft structure, the tank can and will alter shape under high "G" loads, which increases its puncture and burst resistance. Furthermore, the tanks self-wedge into the fuselage, gripping by friction. This reduces the load on the tie points considerably. Turtle-Pac Ferry Tanks have been used since 1991 and during this period not a single tank has failed, even though some aircraft made forced landings (due to causes not related to our tank!).
This combination of factors adds up to a far safer tank than aluminium ferry tanks.
LIFE EXPECTANCY - Some of our tanks have been used successfully with Avgas for just over 10 years now. However, Kerosene use in Standard Grade fabric can reduce this period by some years.

AIR CARGO TANKS 100 - 160 - 238 - 300 - 400 - 500 - 529

Turtle-Pac Air Cargo Tanks are suited inside fuselage and tie downs meet high ‘G’ loads. Typically exceed metal drums crash resistance by 300%. As underslung cargo lifted by cargo net or by Turtle-Pac’s Helicopter Sling consisting of a separate ‘half tank’ base with lifting straps. If intention is to lift several tanks together as a bunch, then each tank should have separate cargo net or sling. If cargo net is used, it is important to secure hoses to top part of tank. Alternate use is as ground support tank for remote field operations.

HELIROLLDRUM 132 - 212 - 264

An extremely tough and convenient tank to fly in supplies to remote sites or for emergency supplies. Filled HeliRollDrum can be rolled safely out of an aircraft onto the ground. Tough enough to take the drop without any roll down planks. But will last longer if two roll down planks are used for softer landing. Empty tanks take very little space and light, enhancing the aircraft’s capability for different return cargo. HeliRollDrum 132 full fits a pallet and 2 x fits the tray of a one ton truck. Fourteen full 132 fits into a 20 ft shipping container for secure ground storage. Full HeliRollDrums are easily rolled by one person on level ground short distances.
For underslung cargo, Turtle-Pac Helicopter Sling pulls over a filled HeliRollDrum as a cap, then a half roll of the tank will position the lift sling for hook up. On landing the tank simply rolled out of the sling for re-use. Number of HeliRollDrums can be lifted as a bunch by heavy lift helicopters. Individual sling or cargo net for each tank is recommended.
